Islet have a website now, you know...

When we started this website, it was to do two things:

1) Demonstrate how easy it was simply to get something up online in a matter of minutes;

2) Express our fandom of Islet in a way that wasn't possible at the time.

We were at an independent music conference in Swansea. We'd just seen the band perform live to a whole bunch of people (about 9, if we're counting), and they were absolutely amazing - but they had no CD to sell, no merchandise and no online presence whatsoever. Not even so much as a MySpace profile.

So this was our slightly geeky way of going "These guys are amazing - check them out!"

But now, we've all moved on - not least, the band. They have their own website http://isletislet.com and are doing things like releasing recordings and listing their tour dates there.

Islet may no longer be the band with no website - but they're still the one band I've got most excited about in a good 20 years. They remain the band that inspired two grown men to start a fan blog. But they don't need it anymore. And we don't either. There's now stuff through which we can express our Islet fandom in an authorised fashion. I have a t-shirt. I have the mp3s... and I can link you to their own site, and say "check these guys out - they're amazing!"

So yeah... go here.

Looks like Islet are in the NME. Huh.

Big night for Islet tonight!

Ben & Dubber discuss Islet over a sandwich

Dubber And Ben Discuss Islet by Dubber

The day after having seen Islet play at UnConvention in Swansea, Dubber & Ben pop out for a sandwich and discuss the music of Islet.

Incidentally, we can highly recommend a shop called Baguette du Jour, where this was recorded. Very friendly, bright and clean. You can relax in their comfy downstairs lounge: sofas, wifi, milkshakes, and yummy tuna melt panini. No sponsorship here, we just thought they really got it right.

Can't recommend the coffee though. Didn't try it.
